My Secret Diary

Privacy Policy

Effective date: 2026-08-21 · Covers app version 0.1.0 (closed testing) · Contact: hello@deepforestlab.com

This policy describes the app as it behaves today. When new features change how data is handled (for example, encryption at rest or optional backup), we will update this page before those changes ship.

The short version

Everything you write or say in My Secret Diary stays on your phone. We have no servers that receive your content, no accounts, and no analytics. We cannot read your diary because we never receive it.

What the app stores

Your diary entries, voice recordings (temporarily, until transcribed — then deleted by default), and app settings are stored only on your device, in the app's private storage. In this early release, that storage is protected by your device's standard app sandboxing; encryption at rest and a biometric app lock are planned and will be announced when they ship.

What leaves your device

Almost nothing, and never your content:

That is the app's only network activity. There is no telemetry, no crash reporting, no advertising, and no third-party analytics SDK.

Data we collect

None. We have no backend, no user database, and no way to identify you.

If you email us for support, we receive whatever you send — that is the only way we would ever hold information about you, and you can ask us to delete it at any time.

Your control over your data

Because your data never leaves your device:

Children

The app is intended for adults 18 and older and includes an age declaration at first launch. We do not knowingly provide the app to minors.

Microphone

The microphone is used only when you press record, and recordings are transcribed on your device. Audio is deleted after transcription unless you change the retention setting.

Changes to this policy

If a future version changes how data is handled (for example, optional encrypted backup), we will update this policy and describe the change in the app before it takes effect.
